Kanotguiden.com & Approved Canoe Centres
Helping people find their way onto the water
Sweden offers countless opportunities to explore nature from the water – from quiet lakes and winding rivers to archipelagos, coastlines and flowing water. Kanotguiden.com (“The Canoe Guide”) is the Swedish Canoe Federation’s public platform for helping people discover where to paddle and giving them the knowledge they need for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Through its digital map, paddlers can discover paddling areas and quality-assured canoe trails across Sweden, as well as canoe clubs and Approved Canoe Centres offering rentals, courses and guided experiences. The quality-assured trails are surveyed and described according to a national framework, providing information that helps paddlers choose waters suited to their experience, skills and expectations.
But Kanotguiden is about more than finding a place on the map. It brings together inspiration and practical knowledge about paddling, safety, preparing for a trip and Sweden’s Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten). By making this information easy to find, we want to help more people explore Sweden from the water – safely and with care for nature and the places they visit.
Approved Canoe Centres – quality close to the water
Our Approved Canoe Centres are an important part of making paddling accessible. The Swedish Canoe Federation’s quality label helps people find professional rental providers where they can expect suitable equipment, safety information, paddling knowledge and personal guidance.
Local knowledge is an essential part of the experience. Staff can help visitors choose suitable places to paddle and provide advice about local conditions, routes and places to discover. In this way, the centres become more than places to rent a canoe or kayak – they are local gateways to safe, enjoyable and responsible outdoor experiences on the water.
Together, Kanotguiden and our Approved Canoe Centres, make it easier to find the water, gain the knowledge and access the equipment needed to explore Sweden through paddling.
